An architecture and design studio based in Sydney, Australia.

We design buildings that are both pragmatic and experimental, that deliver quality outcomes for our clients (maybe you?) and communities despite the complexities of the contemporary built environment.

Our buildings use carefully and appropriately considered means - doing more with less, without being a bore.

BASS HILL MIXED USE CENTRE

A new build multipurpose centre in Sydney’s west. The Bass Hill centre will provide a range of community services including a preschool, medical centre and gymnasium on the site of a disused RSL club.

GAFFA CREATIVE PRECINCT

Alterations and additions to a state heritage listed building in Sydney's CBD, involving the refurbishment of the James Barnet-designed former police station into a mix of commercial, hospitality and gallery spaces.

BALGOWLAH ZONE SUBSTATION GIRAFFE EARLY LEARNING CENTRE

Adaptive reuse of the decomissioned Balgowlah electricity zone substation, converting the 1920s heritage-listed precinct into a unique childcare centre for over 140 children.

ENMORE TERRACE

Alterations and additions to an Enmore cottage, involving a rear and upper storey addition to make room for a growing family within a heritage conservation area.

TAFENSW EORA CAMPUS RECORDING STUDIO

Refurbishment of two existing rooms in TafeNSW’s Eora Campus in Darlington, NSW, into a new recording studio for teaching and events. Featuring serrated wall and ceiling panels to break-down acoustic reflections, the space is a playful addition to student life.

PADDINGTON TERRACE

Alterations and additions to a classic Paddington Terrace in the inner Sydney suburb. The project involved demolition of the rear ground story, inserting a new steel portal frame to support the existing upper story, new open plan kitchen and living areas connected to a rear terrace and roof garden.

CONSERVATORIUM OF MUSIC, DANCE + SCHOOL OF ART, TORRELAVEGA

A competition for a Conservatorium of Music and a School of Dance in Torrelavega, in the northern Spanish province of Cantabria. Our proposal involved two tightly planned buildings sitting either side of an a plaza space offering the opportunity for informal and formal performances to spill into the outdoors.

MURRIN BRIDGE PRESCHOOL + COMMUNITY CENTRE

Extension to an existing preschool building in regional NSW, in the Murrin Bridge Local Aboriginal Land Council, Wiradjuri country. The extension involved new pavilions for the preschool that also serve as a community centre for events. Designed originally by CD Studio, Guillermo Fernandez-Abascal and Urtzi Grau with Jack Cooper and Eduard Fernandez.

BOX HILL MIXED USE

Mixed use development combining childcare and medical centre in a high-density redevelopment area in Sydney's north-western fringe.

GLEBE TERRACE

Alterations and additions to a single storey cottage in Sydney's Glebe. Works included a new upstairs extension to expand the house for a new family, incorporating a small roof garden with views across Blackwattle Bay and the ANZAC Bridge.

BELMORE CHILDCARE CENTRE

Alterations and additions to a factory in Sydney's south west, to adapt the existing large span structure into a preschool for over 100 children. The project involved inserting new pods under the existing 1920's Oregon/Douglas Fir trusses and opening up the centre of the warehouse to create an outdoor playground in the middle of the retained structure.

GREEN SQUARE AQUATIC CENTRE + GUNYAMA PARK

Stage 1 and 2 Competition entry for a 42ha leisure precinct in south Sydney.

Our entry in collaboration with Kevin Liu in partnership (known as TYP-TOP Architecture Office), Tonkin Zulaikha Greer Architects and Professor Anton James of JMD Design, was 1 of 5 shortlisted from an anonymous international field of 147 entries to compete for the project commission.
